Getting There

The most enjoyable way up is the Eyüp Teleferik (cable car) — a short 3-minute ride with great views. Alternatively, climb the atmospheric old cemetery stairs. The cable car station is a 5-minute walk from Eyüp Sultan Mosque. Combine your visit with the mosque and the historic Eyüp district.

Eyüp Sultan Mosque

At the foot of the hill is Eyüp Sultan Mosque, one of Istanbul's holiest sites. The mosque was the first built after the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople (1453). The surrounding area has traditional Ottoman houses, artisan shops, and the historic Eyüp cemetery with ornate Ottoman tombstones.
