What are Hans?

Hans (caravanserais) were Ottoman trading inns where merchants stored goods, conducted business, and rested. Istanbul has dozens of these hidden courtyards scattered around the Grand Bazaar and Eminönü area. Most date from the 15th-17th centuries and many are still active workshops today.

Most hans are open during business hours (Monday-Saturday roughly 9:00-18:00). Free to enter and explore. Located in the Beyazıt/Eminönü area surrounding the Grand Bazaar. Combine with a Grand Bazaar visit.
